Wrinkles are naturally caused as the skin ages. This leads the dermis to lose its firmness and causes it to stretch. Other factors also affect wrinkles, such as prolonged exposure to the sun, frequent muscle contractions, and smoking. Wrinkles can be reduced through a number of ways. An ablative laser can reduce the severest of wrinkles by heating tissue. Alternatively, wrinkles can be treated through injectables like Botox and Juvederm.
How does the treatment work?
Wrinkles can reduced by a number of methods. The severest wrinkles can be treated by a laser procedure. Mild wrinkles, on the other hand, can easily be improved through BBL or an injectable.
What areas of the body can be treated?
The most popular area for wrinkle treatment is on the face.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies from patient to patient depending on the condition. For the best results, a minimum of 4 treatments is recommended, ideally spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
What will happen during the procedure?
Your skin will be cleaned in the treatment area and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. The physician will place a handpiece against the skin, which prevents the surface of the skin from overheating. Once one section of the skin is treated, the handpiece will be moved to another location until the entire treatment area has been covered. The procedure typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes.
There should be minimal discomfort. You may feel a warming of the skin during the BBL and laser procedures as the procedure progresses. The sensation is no worse than a rubber band snap, though it should be noted that the sensation varies from patient to patient and depends on the intensity of treatment.
What should I expect immediately after the treatment?
Results may vary depending on your condition, number of treatments, and the area being treated, though the most typical observation is redness in the treated areas. This will resolve itself within a few hours.
How long will it take to recover?
The BBL and injectable treatments carry virtually no downtime. The laser procedure will require 2 to 3 days to recover.
What aftercare do I need?
No aftercare is required for this procedure, but the staff will follow up with you a day after the procedure to ensure that there are no problems.
When should I expect results?
You should be able to start seeing results within a week after the treatment. The results will become more noticeable and dramatic after subsequent treatments.
